Oriah graduated from the UNC-Charlotte with a triple major in Finance (with a concentration in investments), International Business Administration, and Management. Shortly after graduation, he joined Bengal Protea Diamonds as the President of Online Sales and was responsible for the company’s web presence, customer relations, and diamond sales. When working at the company, he increased the company’s gross revenue by over 20 percent and established a loyal client base in Charlotte, North Carolina as well as Columbia, South Carolina, Richmond, Virginia, and Knoxville, Tennessee.
In 2009, Oriah joined Defined Capital, LP as Manager of Operations and Strategy. His role within the company was to ensure that various administrative duties are correctly handled and that the company remains on track with regards to its strategic goals timeline of operations. His involvement in the company has been critical to the development and success of the fund. As of Q1 2011, the fund was managing in excess of $5 Million.
In 2010, Oriah joined a Private Equity Firm as the Vice President of Business Strategy and Development. Oriah worked alongside the CEO to help grow and develop existing business while creating an outlet for new business concepts and ideas to flourish. Oriah assisted with the creation and execution of deals in excess of $100 Million.
EDGE Asset Management’s Advisory Board provides ongoing guidance to the Executive Management Team on issues of strategy, management, legal matters, process, and conflict resolution. Our Advisory Board Members are forward-thinking experts in real estate, finance, and Mergers and Aquisitions. Each member brings a multi-disciplined background to EDGE Asset Management including: real estate and credit markets, distressed asset research and aquisitions, commodities, equities, financial services, real estate law & economics.
The Advisory Board provides valuable guidance to EDGE Asset Management’s Executive Team. Near the end of each quarter, EDGE Executives give a formal presentation to the members of the Advisory Board. The presentation focuses on performance attribution, individual security analysis and portfolio management and allows the Advisory Board to provide constructive feedback and advice for continuous performance improvements.
Mr. Cohen has more than 25 years of experience in the financial real estate and acquisitions industry; his background reflects accomplishments in the areas of investor relations, consulting, and strategic planning.In 1976, his career began with Astar Trading a family owned wholesale electronics firm. He was responsible for the management, development, and profitability of an import/export wholesale consumer electronics business? With brands such as Astrasonic, Seiko, Audiotech, Swan and many others, with annual sales in the millions. He doubled sales volume each year for the first five years through the development of major accounts in 46 states; clients included Alexander’s, Vornado’s, May & Co., and the Wiz to name a few. He developed national strategies, allowing the company to grow from a small local distributor to a major national wholesaler.In 1984 he started AMC Capital, a financial consulting firm, with an acquaintance. Whereby he established and maintained relationships with major banking, brokerage houses, institutions as well as high net worth individuals. The company provided representation and comprehensive consulting services to small and mid-size public and private corporations, developed and implemented short and long term strategies to maximize revenue and increase shareholders’ value. One of the many projects that Mr. Cohen worked on was as a consultant to Premier Concepts, a 38-store mall based costume jewelry public company,he played a key role in fundraising, formulating the company’s direction, resulting in an increase in stock price from $1 a share to $21 a share on the NASDAQ market.
Albert facilitated introductions between principals and investors for an incubator of technology companies, instrumental in several mergers and acquisitions of other technology companies.(ETA) resulting more than $1.5 billion in value. Also helped increase stock value from $2 a share to $57 on the NYSE,as well as recommendation on the top 100 up and coming companies in the internet field by bank of America.
