Have you ever asked for a wish list from the residents of your property?

The first and foremost objective of any property manager is to look after properties. He is also responsible for the maintenance of property. It is not always possible for a property manager to make hundred percent arrangements for a certain building or property. That is why it needs update every year. A property manager may need to buy something or make some adjustments for better look and environment within a certain property.

If you are a property manager and if you really want the residents of your building happy you cannot but heed to their objections and suggestions. The residents have better idea and can feel what’s wrong with an apartment or building. As we know, there is a budget for certain property maintenance. Therefore, if you are to make the best use of that budget what you can do is to look for suggestions from the residents of your building.

To have the suggestions of the residents of a certain building you may provide them with sample paper so that they can write down their wish list. This is a world where technology rules. You may also arrange online poll to have the ideas of the residents. It does not mean that you will be able to fulfill all the expectations of the residents. However, what it can do is that you may get excellent ideas or recommendations from the residents about what is more important and what’s not to make a certain property look much better, greener or more natural.

By giving importance to the demand of the residents of a certain property you are not only fulfilling the expectations of the residents, you are also sharing your responsibility with the residents. For a change in the property area only you will not be liable but all the residents who have gone for the change.

Let’s discuss what you may do after having the suggestion of all the residents of a certain property. Look at the list of all the issues that the residents want addressed. You may have to avoid a lot of the issues mentioned. Still you can, at least, do something they want done. Just select the issues from the list that you think most important and take steps so that the issues get resolved.

You may be faced with some issues that you think quite important but will require lots of money and time. You may just add issues like these to your long term planning list and have them resolved when you have enough budget and time. Just do not bother about what you cannot do because of the limited budget you have. This is what happens with almost all the property managers and you have to accept it like other professionals do.
