Leadership: Traits of a True Leader

Leadership is crucial in any organization. Just as a boat without a rudder is at risk of being lost, an organization without a leader cannot achieve its goal. A leader directs a team, maintains regular communication with them, motivates them, inspires them and leads them in order to achieve the goal of the company or organization. Therefore, a leader is part and parcel of any organization. However, a person doesn’t become a leader automatically. He needs to have certain qualities to become a leader.

Following are some of the special qualities of a leader:

Take Risks:

A leader has the guts to take risks. To be more precise and accurate, he knows the right time and right way to take risks. There comes situations when taking a risk becomes inevitable. But not everyone dares to take risks except a leader. Because he knows that even if his decision to take a risk backfires he has the capability or option to handle the situation.

Lead From the Front:

This is a trademark quality of a leader. He never hesitates to lead from the front. In fact, he is best known for this quality. He takes decisions and implements all of his decisions or planning.

Maintain Communication with Enemies:

A leader is not without enemies. In fact, he knows who his enemies are and why. Some of the decisions a leader takes and implements anger his competitors and this causes enmity. However, it does not mean that a leader does not maintain communication with his enemies. A true leader brings his enemies closer. He means business. So, he never talks about his enmities when he meets with his enemies.

 A True Leader is not Complacent:

A true leader is never complacent. He may remain happy with the way a company or organization is running but he wants more. He may have a target set for a specific time period but he knows that the progress should not stop. He always looks for growth and if he fails to achieve the growth within a specific time period he tries his best to attain growth the next time around.

To conclude, a leader is a must in an organization. In fact, an organization without a leader is unimaginable. Boldness, decision making power, true leadership, right decision at right time these are some of the major qualities of a leader. A man is not a leader by birth. He has to learn leadership skill and when right time comes he has to apply leadership skill in his work.
